Clarification Please!

This week we did a lot of work with inquiry based activities. These activities promote research and navigation through the internet. Once again, it is important to make sure that all links you require the students to learn are active links. This activity seems a great way to introduce topics. For instance, I asked my students to answer certain questions about the number Pi. This will help students become more familiar with Pi so that they gain a deeper understanding of area and circumference of circles. This lesson also opened my eyes to clarification. It is important that directions and websites are very clear to students. No teacher wants their students to be confused. So in order to avoid this, it is important to provide clear directions and easily navigated sites. Especially for younger or lower performing students.

Website Evaluations...Who knew

We recently had to evaluate a website. There were alot of aspects in evaluating that I never stopped to consider. A couple of these include the plug in requirements and also the layout. Another aspect was the dead links. I never realized just how annoying it is to have a website with a bunch of dead links on it. It seems that is could become frustrating real fast on a bad day. This assignment will make a huge difference when I become a teacher. Since technology in classrooms is becoming more useful everyday, it is important that i know how to analyze and evaluate a website that I may use in class or for homework. I do not want to send my students to a site that is difficult to navigate or hard to read. Also, it is important to find a site that will keep the students attention so that they will actually enjoy completing the assignment.

Welcome to My Blog

Welcome to my blog. You will be following me through the growth of my understanding of technology for the next few months. I hope to be able to take full advantage of the technology available for me by the end of this semester. Technology is constantly improving and therefore everyone must stay on top of the advancements. Technology is already a crucial part of the classroom and will be even more so in the near future. In order to give my students the best education possible, I must be able to take advantage of all of my resources and teach them to do the same. Let's start growing!
